Selecting the Right Beers

Selecting beers can be fun -but don’t go crazy!

We recommend structuring your selection and possibly theming the event.

Some general rules when considering structuring your order
  • Select a range of different strength beers
  • Consider offering a low alcohol beer
  • Have a greater number of low strength [session strength] beers
  • Don’t have too many high strength beers
  • Select a range of different coloured beers
  • Pale, Gold, Amber, Copper, Red, Dark, Black etc etc
  • Select a range of different styles of beers
  • Best Bitters, Milds, Porters, Stouts, India Pale Ales, American Pale Ales, Fruit Beers, Wheat Beers etc etc

Consider theming your Beer Festival
  • Award Winning – beers that have won awards at SIBA or CAMRA events, either nationally or locally.
  • Birds & Beasts – beers with different bird names or animal names in the beer names
  • Colours – beers with different colours in their names
  • Music – beers with different musicians/bands in their names
  • Names – beers with different people’s names in the beer names
  • Nautical – beers with nautical terms in their names
  • Places of the World – beers with different place names in the beer name
  • Provenience – beers from a range of specific geographical locations
  • Special Dates – Christmas, Easter, Saints Days, Halloween, Sporting Competitions – choosing beers with names that tie into the event.
